4th of July 2012

To say we had a full day is an understatement.  As Daddy would say it was my kind of day. We ran
from place to place only stopping to reload.  The littles woke up early right on cue and what other way
to start the day than with homemade waffles strawberries, chocolate milk with a lil bit of whip.  I must say Daddy was a lil sad he missed it, BUT the early bird catches the worm though I felt on this day 30 extra minutes of sleep in the morning may get 30 more minutes out of him somewhere in the day so I let him sleep ;)

Then it was off to the races everyone fed, bikes decorated for the Annual New Haven 4th of July Bike Parade.  This was our first year but it happens every year.  Kids dress their bikes up for the 4th of July and you cruise around and after there are fun games, snow cones and a lil hometown church social type thing.  As Daddy said again just my speed!  Pictured here Khloe and Caleb off to the races!

The girls, Khloe, Pia, Nora, Lucy and Lola

Always a good time with these girls even if we are sweatin' it out in a little kids bike race :)

After the race it was home to pack up again and get ready to eat and swim with the Rollings!  I have known Courtney and her family for about 10 years.  She does not yet have any children but loves to be around mine so I love that about her and her family.  They had a lot of people with children over good eats and cool treats!

Here is Mr. Dennis Courtney's Dad with the girls they LOVE him!

Ms. Gloria and Pia she couldn't get enough

They even brought out a bounce house!  For a family with no children or grandchildren they really went all out! It was a ton of fun...UNTIL

THE GRILL CAUGHT FIRE AND 911 HAD TO BE CALLED. CHILDREN HAD TO BE LIFTED OVER A BACK GATE.  IT WAS WHISTLING LIKE A ROMAN CANDLE! THE LITTLES STOOD WATCHING IN TERROR AT THE FLAMES AND THE SOUND WAS NEARLY DEAFENING.  WE THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO EXPLODE OR CATCH THE HOUSE ON FIRE.  WE DID NOT WANT TO SEE MR. DENNIS GET HURT!

Alas, everything was fine the fire department came Mr. Dennis saved the day everyone was able to swim there was more food to eat and the party rolled on at the Rollings!  To this day a month later my kids including Pia STILL talk about the "FIRE" Glad everyone stayed safe and to this day we will have a great story!

Next it was home again for desert until dark on the menu mason jar strawberry shortcake layered whip cream DELISH!

Then time for sparklers

and more sparklers

even baby got sparklers

ME

Papa always finds us the PERFECT watch spot!  This year it was a miracle we were running so late we popped everyone in the car right a dark and drove down to Riverside Drive.  There just so happened to be a few spots left in a great location our side of the river.  He drives a big truck so we plowed in and set up shop on the back on his tailgate.  It was perfect!

Ready to get the show started

Perfect end to the perfect night.
Kyan would have said the perfect end would have been that we got the kids in the car RIGHT as the fireworks ended.  Literally pulled out into traffic the SECOND BEFORE everything turned to mass hysteria and we would have been waiting an hour to drive 3 minutes back to our house and we got every green light on the way home!  He is the master :)

It really was the perfect end to the perfect day with my family and friends!
Happy 4th of July!
